Suspect, victim identified in stabbing near Santa Monica Promenade

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Laguna Beach man in an apartment near the Santa Monica Promenade on Wednesday.

Police arrested Ryan Bright, 26, after the stabbing, which occurred about 3:30 a.m. during a gathering at an apartment in the 400 block of Broadway Street, said Sgt. Richard Lewis. Investigators said Bright got into an argument with the victim and stabbed him several times.

The victim, identified by coroner's officials as 27-year-old Jensen Gray, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is ongoing. Authorities ask anyone with information to call detectives at (310) 458-8937 or (310) 458-8959.
