Reader photos: Southern California Moments, Day 198

Little Tokyo

Sunset on Little Tokyo: John Hwang captured this photo on July 9 at the Obon Festival in Little Tokyo, a Japanese Buddhist celebration honoring the spirits of ancestors. Hwang heard about the festival from his boss, and brought his 5D Mark II and 24mm 1.4 lens to take a few shots.

Many attendees wore traditional Japanese clothing, Hwang said, and the festival was full of dancing, singing and games, with a farmer's market that had great deals on produce and flowers.
