Motorcyclist killed, passenger hurt in Canyon Country crash

A motorcyclist died and another person was critically injured in a crash Saturday afternoon in Canyon Country.

The crash on Soledad Canyon Road just east of the 14 Freeway was reported at 1:53 p.m., authorities said.

California Highway Patrol Officer Christian Cracraft said that no other vehicles were involved, and that it was unclear what caused the motorcycle to crash. The driver, whose name was not released, died at the scene. A passenger was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.

Soledad Canyon Road was closed in both directions while the accident investigation was underway. It reopened at 4:24 p.m., Cracraft said.
