Mother runs over, kills toddler in driveway of home

Authorities said a mother apparently ran over her 22-month-old child Wednesday evening as she was backing out of her driveway in Harbor City, killing the toddler.

The incident occurred about 8:40 p.m. in the 25400 block of Bayside Place.

The mother drove her baby boy to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Rayner.

Rayner said the mother, whose name has not been released, is not under arrest. The investigation is ongoing, she said.
