Man struck and killed by Metrolink train in Covina
A pedestrian who was in a rail crossing was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a train in Covina, officials said.
The incident occurred at 5:20 p.m. at the Glendora Avenue rail crossing on the Metrolink line from Los Angeles’ Union Station to San Bernardino, said Scott Johnson of Metrolink.
Johnson said the train was carrying about 400 passengers and was moving at about 50 mph when the pedestrian was hit. None of the passengers were injured, he said, though there were delays of about two hours.
Officials with the Covina Police Department did not identify the deceased pedestrian, other than to say it was a male. Authorities said the investigation into the incident was ongoing.
