Jeff ParishA man who provides cares for an elderly woman has been arrested on suspicion of helping her son remain a fugitive from child molesting charges, Santa Barbara authorities said Wednesday.

Luis Procopio Urbina, 43, allegedly sent "large amounts of money" to Jeffrey Parish, who was apprehended last week in a Guatemalan mountain town.  Urbina is from Guatemala and still has relatives there, according to a news release from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

Urbina is the primary caregiver for 90-year-old Vivian Parish, whose son was out on bail when he disappeared in 1994. Jeffrey Parish, now 65, was charged in the sexual abuse of a 4-year-old girl who lived near him in Carpinteria.

Urbina also is alleged to have "facilitated email communications" between Parish and his mother, who lives in Santa Barbara. He was arrested Tuesday and booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. Bail was set at $20,000.
