A man in his 20s was arrested by Santa Monica police Wednesday after a stabbing left another man dead near the Santa Monica Promenade, a department spokesman said.

The victim was at a gathering at an apartment in the 400 block of Broadway Street when he got into an argument with another man and was stabbed about 3:30 a.m., said Sgt. Richard Lewis.

He later died of his wounds, Lewis said.

No other information about the suspect was immediately available. Santa Monica police said their investigation was ongoing.
