Man arrested after allegedly kidnapping, raping estranged wife

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies arrested a man accused of kidnapping his estranged wife at gunpoint and raping her.

The woman told authorities her estranged husband, identified as 27-year-old Rudy Zendejas, met her outside of her Malibu workplace about 6:30 p.m. Friday armed with a semi-automatic handgun, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Zendejas ordered the woman into her vehicle and made her drive to a "poorly lit residential area" in central Los Angeles, where he raped her inside the car, authorities said.

The woman was then told to drive to Western Avenue and 2nd Street in Koreatown, where Zendejas got out of the car and ran, authorities said. The woman drove home and called police.

Zendejas was arrested in Los Angeles on Saturday evening, authorities said. He was booked at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station on suspicion of kidnapping with the intent to commit rape and spousal rape.

Zendejas had a loaded handgun at the time of his arrest, authorities said.
