Long Beach shooting victim dies

A 29-year-old man who was shot Monday afternoon in Long Beach died overnight, police said.

The victim and the person who shot him were arguing just before the gunman opened fire, police said in a news release. Officers were called to the 2200 block of East 14th Street about 4:50 p.m. and found the victim sprawled in the street with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

The victim, who lived in Long Beach, died at a hospital. Police are not identifying him until his family is notified.

Authorities did not release any details about the gunman. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Long Beach homicide detectives at (562) 570-7244.
