Reported cabin pressure trouble temporarily halts flight to L.A.
An American Airlines flight headed to Los Angeles from Fort Lauderdale made an emergency landing Thursday morning in Miami after a report of a cabin pressure problem.
Flight 1585 landed at Miami International Airport about an hour after taking off with 143 passengers and six crew members, American Airlines spokesman Ed Martelle said. Mechanics then worked on the plane and “declared it fine and ready to go,” said Martelle.
The 737 aircraft was scheduled to take off again for the West Coast after about 90 minutes on the ground.
No one was injured during the landing or the circling the pilot undertook to use up some fuel in case something went awry, according to Martelle. He said he had not received a maintenance report on the exact nature of the pressure problem or whether it might have been just a faulty indicator.
