Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise reach quick divorce settlement

Eleven days after Katie Holmes filed for divorce, she and Tom Cruise have reached a settlement, an attorney for the actress said.

In a statement, New Jersey divorce lawyer Jonathan Wolfe wrote, “The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.”

Holmes filed for divorce in New York on June 28, a move that appeared to take Cruise, who was shooting a movie in Iceland, off guard. She assembled a team of high-profile matrimonial lawyers while Cruise was still searching for legal representation.

In his statement, Wolfe thanked Cruise’s attorneys for “their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution.”

The couple married in 2006 and have a 6-year-old daughter, Suri.
