Earthquake: 3.9 quake strikes near Eureka
A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Thursday morning 25 miles from Eureka, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:39 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 16.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 10 miles from Willow Creek, 18 miles from Blue Lake, 22 miles from Arcata and 192 miles from Sacramento.
In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
