Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Borrego Springs

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning nine miles from Borrego Springs, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 2:04 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 17 miles from Desert Shores, 18 miles from Salton Sea Beach, 33 miles from Palm Springs and 63 miles from San Diego.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
