Cyclist killed in PCH hit-and-run in Santa Monica

July 11, 2012 |  6:35 am

Santa Monica police were searching Wednesday for a pickup-truck driver who struck and killed a cyclist on Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica.

The woman, believed to be about 30 years old, was riding southbound near Entrada Drive when she was hit about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, said Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis. Witnesses told police the white pickup continued driving and later got on the 10 Freeway.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash closed the highway in both directions for several hours, but it was reopened early Tuesday morning. An investigation into the crash is ongoing, Lewis said.
