Hit-and-run kills 19-year-old in Commerce

Approximate location of incident shown in black.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigators were searching Friday for a hit-and-run driver who killed a teenager in Commerce.

The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. at the intersection of Randolph Street and Eastern Avenue, officials said. The type of vehicle involved could not be confirmed, they said.

The 19-year-old man died at the scene. Authorities are not releasing his name until his family has been notified.

"It's predominately a business area. It's not residential. It's more commercial. Most of the traffic is during the day," said Sam Arellano, a watch commander at the East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station.
