96-acre brush fire outside Palmdale fully contained

A 96-acre brush fire burning in the San Gabriel Mountains outside of Palmdale has been fully contained, fire officials said Sunday morning.

The fire, which broke out about 11:45 a.m. Saturday near the San Bernardino County line, was 100% contained Saturday night, according to dispatchers with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. More than 300 firefighters attacked the blaze as several helicopters dropped water on the flames.

No structures were damaged or injuries reported, officials said. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.

Highway 138 was briefly closed between Wrightwood and Route 18 but is now open.
