A big-rig driver was killed Monday when his vehicle crashed into another semi-truck parked on the shoulder of a transition between the 605 and 210 freeways near Duarte, authorities said.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was driving onto the eastbound 210 Freeway from the northbound 605 when he crashed about 9 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

The victim, whose identity was not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The other driver was not hurt.

The transition road remained closed two hours after the crash. Officials said it was unclear when it would be reopened.
