17-year-old punches would-be kidnapper in face, authorities say
Authorities in the Santa Clarita Valley are looking for a man suspected of trying to kidnap a 17-year-old girl, who said she escaped by punching the man in the face.
The girl was waiting to be picked up at Valencia High School about 6:45 p.m. Monday when the man parked his truck near Dickason Drive, walked up to the girl and grabbed her wrist, according to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.
"She was able to punch him in the face in order to get him to back away," Lt. Eric Lasko told KTLA-TV.
The girl told authorities she ran behind a building, where she watched the man get into his red pickup and drive away.
Authorities have released a composite sketch of the suspect, described as a man about 40 years old who is 5 feet 10 and about 250 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes and acne scars.
His truck was described as a 1990s-model red Toyota with tinted windows and no hubcaps. "Toyota" was written in white lettering across the tailgate.
Authorities ask anyone with information to call the Santa Clarita sheriff's station at (661) 255-1121.
