Burst water pipe floods 110 Freeway near Elysian Park
Traffic was backed up Wednesday on the northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway after a broken water pipe flooded the freeway near Elysian Park.
Two lanes of the freeway were shut down about 1 p.m. as water flowed from a broken pipe in one of the area's tunnels, said Officer Spencer Badal of California Highway Patrol.
"It's raining quite a bit of water," Badal said.
Los Angeles Recreation and Parks crews were at the scene, preparing to stop the water flow with a clamp, Badal said.
It was unclear what caused the pipe to burst, but a traffic collision might be to blame, Badal said. It was unknown how long the lanes would be closed.
