San Diego woman arrested on suspicion of killing husband, daughter
A 55-year-old San Diego woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fatally shooting her husband and teenage daughter, police said.
Regina Johnson was booked on two counts of murder, said Lt. Kevin Rooney of the San Diego Police Department.
Names of the dead were not released.
Police believe Johnson may have killed her 56-year-old husband and 14-year-old daughter on Wednesday morning in the family apartment in the San Carlos neighborhood, then remained in the apartment until police arrived early Saturday, Rooney said.
Johnson had called a relative in Washington state to say that her husband and daughter were dead, Rooney said. The relative called local police, who in turn called San Diego police.
Police arrived about 1:35 a.m. and persuaded Johnson to leave the apartment. She was taken to police headquarters for questioning and later was arrested.
Johnson was recently laid off from her job in the financial services industry, Rooney said. Her husband was retired from the Navy, neighbors said.
