Baby dies after dog attack in San Diego County

An eight-month-old boy died Thursday night after being attacked by one or more dogs in the San Diego suburb of Lemon Grove, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The child was taken to Rady Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

After the attack, at least two dogs, including one pitbull or pitbull-mix, were taken from the child's home in the blue-collar community by animal-control officers. Lemon Grove has an agreement with Chula Vista's animal care facility to provide animal control services.

Homicide detectives were on the scene Thursday night.
