Recruit dies at Marine boot camp in San Diego

A recruit died Friday during his first day of training at the Marine boot camp in San Diego, officials said.

The recruit collapsed after the initial strength test required of all recruits. He was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m. at Scripps Mercy Hospital. His name was not released pending family notification.

The cause of death has not been determined.
