Person of interest sought in case of decomposed body found in SUV
Los Angeles police detectives were looking Thursday for a person of interest in the case of a decomposing body found in a parked SUV in the Fairfax district.
L.A. County coroner’s officials have identified the victim as Steven John Simmons, 33, of Running Springs, and say he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
Now, detectives want to speak with Jacob Anthonisen, police said in a statement. KTLA reported that Anthonisen is Simmons' stepbrother and has been identified as the owner of the Cadillac SUV in which Simmons' body was found. The station says Anthonisen has been reported missing.
In a statement earlier this month, police said a motive in Simmons' death had not been determined.
Coroner's investigator Dana Bee said the case was being investigated as a homicide.
