O.C. woman sentenced to 16 years to life for killing her infant

Yoselin Torres TovarAn Orange County Superior Court judge Friday sentenced a 20-year-old Fullerton woman to state prison for fatally stabbing her newborn baby and hiding the body in her closet.

Yoselin Torres Tovar pleaded guilty in May to second-degree murder. On Friday, she was sentenced to 16 years to life in state prison.

Tovar gave birth to a baby girl on April 18, 2010, at her Fullerton home. Shortly after, she stabbed the newborn several times, wrapped the body and put it in a closet.

Tovar's family took her to the hospital when they saw blood. Doctors called the Fullerton police after discovering that she had just gone through labor. Officers found the baby later that night.
