One dead, three wounded in Compton drive-by shooting

Sheriff’s detectives were investigating after a drive-by shooter fired into a Compton crowd Friday night, leaving one person dead and three wounded.

The incident occurred about 11:10 p.m. outside a house in the 1200 block of Glencoe Street, deputies said.

A sport utility vehicle pulled up in front of the house and someone inside fired into a crowd standing outside. The SUV then sped off.

Three people were rushed to a hospital. A woman was pronounced dead; her name was not immediately released. Two men were also shot; one is hospitalized in critical condition, the other in stable condition, deputies said.

A second woman received treatment for a gunshot wound at the scene but was not hospitalized.

No arrests have been made and there is no known motive for the attack.
