Newlywed Marine from Twentynine Palms killed in Afghanistan

A Marine from Twentynine Palms has been killed in combat in Afghanistan, the Department of Defense announced Thursday.

Cpl. Taylor Baune, 21, of Andover, Minn., was killed Wednesday in Helmand province, long a Taliban stronghold. Baune was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, at Twentynine Palms.

Baune is survived by his wife, Colleen. The couple married in March.
