Marine captain arraigned on child pornography charges

A Marine captain was arraigned Friday in San Diego federal court on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Capt. Joshua Taylor, 28, was arrested Thursday at Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego, where he is assigned as a helicopter pilot.

According to prosecutors, Taylor, using a computer, distributed child pornography betweeen May 2010 and November 2011 and in December 2011 possessed child pornography.

A search warrant was executed by Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents on Taylor's San Diego residence while Taylor was deployed aboard the Makin Island. The child pornography was found on Taylor's computer, according to the U.S. attorney.

A magistrate judge set bail at $50,000. Taylor was ordered to appear in court June 14.
