Man held after allegedly stabbing 68-year-old roommate to death

Man arrested in roommate stabbing

Police arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of fatally stabbing his 68-year-old roommate inside their North Hollywood apartment early Saturday morning.

Manuel Garcia-Perez was taken into custody about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, online jail records showed. He faces charges of murder and domestic violence.

The stabbing occurred in the 12900 block of Vanowen Street about 2:40 a.m. after Garcia-Perez got in a fight with his girlfriend, Los Angeles police said.

His roommate, whose name has not been released, allegedly tried to intervene and was stabbed "several times," KTLA reported. He died at the scene.
