SWAT team, bomb squad called to Winnetka home

Police arrive at a Winnetka home where a man possibly armed with a gun is believed to be inside.

A SWAT team has surrounded a Winnetka home in the San Fernando Valley, where police believe a man possibly armed with a gun is inside.

Police were called to the 6700 block of Winnetka Avenue near Pierce College about 5:05 a.m. after a woman said someone was trying to break in to her home, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

"When the officers arrived, the suspect ran back inside," LAPD Officer Wendy Reyes said.

The woman is not inside the home and there is no hostage situation, Reyes said. Police believe the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.

A bomb squad is also at the scene, Reyes said.
