Surviving this weekend's Ramp Jam on 405 Freeway (LA Now Live chat)

Transportation officials plan to shut down some entry and exit points between the nation's most congested freeway and one of L.A.'s busiest boulevards Friday night for a carpool lane project on the 405 Freeway, The Times' Martha Groves reported

Workers will shut down the westbound Wilshire onramp to the northbound 405 and the northbound 405 offramp to westbound Wilshire starting 10 p.m. Friday. The closures will be in place for about three months and are the first part of a yearlong project to demolish and rebuild all eight ramps on the interchange.

In a live chat at 1 p.m., Groves will discuss the project and alternate routes that Westside commuters can use during the construction.
