Kings parade planned for Thursday

Kings battle the Devils on Monday night at Staples Center.The Stanley Cup champion Kings will take part in a parade scheduled for Thursday in downtown Los Angeles. 

The parade will start at noon near 5th and Figueroa, proceed south on Figueroa and end between L.A. Live and Staples Center. Players and their families, coaches and others are expected to ride in double-decker buses and other vehicles, officials said. 

The Kings routed the New Jersey Devils 6-1 in Game 6 on Monday night at Staples Center to capture the team's first Stanley Cup.

Earlier, fans descended on L.A. Live and turned the area into a sea of black and white. A carnival atmosphere prevailed as vendors hawked team hats and other memorabilia and announcers led people in boisterous cheers.
