Fans chant encouragement to Kings as Game 6 nears

June 11, 2012 |  4:31 pm

A chorus of chants rang out Monday afternoon at Staples Center as Kings fans gathered outside the arena in advance of Monday night's Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final.

Ivan Moran, 41, of Hillside Village watched as crowds egged on by announcers with microphones cheered, "We want the cup! Go, Kings, Go!" He hopes his team can clinch the title tonight.

"In theory, we should outplay them in every aspect of hockey," said Moran, who came to watch the game with his wife and son. He said he has been a season ticket holder for about five years.

Fans sporting black-and-white jerseys swarmed around a beer garden at the center of LA Live, while vendors hawked team hats and other memorabilia.

A fan for half her life, Monica Teson, 24, of Glendale made a poster rooting for her favorite player, Jonathan Quick.

"This time they really need to take a step forward, because this is it. We've been waiting so long!" Teson said.
