FBI agent from Los Angeles to head San Diego office

An FBI agent from the Los Angeles office has been named as special agent in charge of the San Diego Division, with responsibility for San Diego and Imperial counties, the FBI announced Monday.

Daphne Hearn, who joined the FBI in 1991, will succeed Keith Slotter, who is retiring after 25 years with the FBI. She was selected by FBI Director Robert Mueller III.

Hearn has been special agent in charge of the administrative division of the Los Angeles office since October 2011, after being special agent in charge of the intelligence division and then special agent in charge of the counterintelligence/cyber/administrative division.

Her FBI career includes postings at several offices, a specialty in organized crime and illegal gambling investigations, and an assignment as special assistant to Mueller. She is a 1987 graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in business administration.
