Man killed in deputy-involved shooting in Lynwood

A man died Thursday afternoon after a deputy-involved shooting in Lynwood, authorities said.

The shooting took place at noon in the 1500 block of Atlantic Avenue. The dead man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No L.A. County sheriff's deputies were injured.

KTLA reported that the shooting happened after deputies responded to a report of a kidnapping in progress.

No further details were immediately available.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials were investigating. The incident will also be reviewed by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office and the coroner's office, as well as the Sheriff's Department homicide and internal affairs bureaus and the Los Angeles Office of Independent Review, which is standard in such shootings.
