Child dies in suspected hit-and-run accident in Santa Ana

Santa Ana police are investigating an alleged hit-and-run accident Saturday morning in which a child was struck and killed.

A woman and another child were also hit and taken to a local hospital with “significant injuries” after the 11 a.m. accident at 17th and Spurgeon streets, said Santa Ana Police Cmdr. Tammy Franks.

The driver of the car was detained nearby, but not yet booked, Franks said.

No further information was immediately available.
