Brush fire near San Bernardino County line 100% contained

A brush fire that flared up Saturday in a sparsely populated area outside Palmdale has been fully contained, a Los Angeles County fire official said.

The fire broke out about 11:45 a.m. in the sort of dry vegetation where it could have quickly spread, said supervising dispatcher Michael Pittman. More than 300 firefighters and several helicopters attacked the blaze, which was fully contained after six hours.

The fire charred 96 acres. No structures were damaged.

Late Saturday, some crews remained to mop up the site near the Los Angeles-San Bernardino county line.
