Brother, sister, adult relative dead in National City murder-suicide

The victims of an apparent murder-suicide in a National City motel were a brother and sister and an adult male relative, police said Tuesday.

Police discovered the bodies at the Paradise Motel around 10 a.m. after receiving a request from a woman to check on the welfare of the two children there, said Sgt. Julian Villagomez.

The 16-year-old boy and his 8-year-old sister were dead from gunshots. A 39-year-old male relative was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot, Villagomez said.

Police initially thought the girl was 11, Villagomez said. National City is a suburb south of San Diego.
