Body found off La Jolla may be missing diver

The body of a man has been found in the ocean off La Jolla in the same area where a sport diver went missing six days ago, authorities said Sunday.

The San Diego County medical examiner will determine if the body is that of 45-year-old Jeffrey May of Oceanside, authorities said. May disappeared while on a diving outing.

The body was found by a sport diver in 175 feet of water, one of the deepest spots along the San Diego coast. A massive search by lifeguards and Coast Guard personnel last week was unable to locate May.
