Couple at Beverly Hills Hilton committed suicide, police say

Couple found dead at Beverly Hills Hilton
A married couple found in the Beverly Hills Hilton nearly a week ago in an apparent murder-suicide died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds, police said Thursday.

Robert Egan, 69, and his wife, Barbara Egan, 56, were found shot to death about 10:50 p.m. Friday, Beverly Hills Police Lt. Mark Rosen said, less than 24 hours before the Daytime Emmy Awards began at the posh hotel.

The couple had been living at the hotel for about six months and apparently left a note, Rosen said.

Investigators initially said the deaths appeared to be a murder-suicide, but Rosen said Thursday the coroner's office determined the incident was a "double suicide."
