Authorities investigating remains found in car in Fairfax district

Authorities are investigating decomposing remains found in a vehicle in the Fairfax district near West Hollywood.

Los Angeles police responded to a vehicle parked near Willoughby and North Genesee avenues after reports of a foul odor coming from the area, said Sgt. Frank Preciado.

Officers found what appeared to be decomposing remains in the vehicle but were not able to tell if it was a body.

The coroner's office is investigating whether the remains are human, Preciado said.
