Amanda Bynes charged with DUI after hitting police cruiser

Amanda Bynes

Actress Amanda Bynes was charged with driving under the influence Tuesday following her arrest in April after her black BMW struck a Los Angeles County sheriff’s cruiser in West Hollywood.

Bynes Bynes, 26, is slated to appear before Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Elden Fox, who oversaw much of Lindsay Lohan's infamous DUI case. The actress is also charged with refusing a Breathalyzer or blood-alcohol test.

The actress was arrested about 3 a.m. April 6 near the corner of Robertson and Santa Monica boulevards and taken into custody by deputies after her car hit the rear corner of the sheriff’s cruiser.

The former Nickelodeon star has been involved in a series of traffic incidents in recent months.

Bynes, who quickly rose to fame as a comedy star in the Nickelodeon show "All That," later starred in movies, including the film adaptation of the musical "Hairspray."
