A ton of marijuana worth $6 million found at Norwalk condo fire
Authorities discovered more than a ton of marijuana inside a Norwalk condominium Thursday evening when they responded to a stove top fire at the residence, sheriff’s deputies said.
The pot, worth an estimated $6 million on the street, was found inside several rooms of the condo in the 12000 block of Cheshire Street. No one was in the residence, however.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Mendoza said that deputies and firefighters forced their way into the smoke-filled condo shortly after 6 p.m. and found food burning on the range top.
After the fire was extinguished, deputies noticed a large amount of packaged marijuana in several of the rooms. They were unable to locate any suspects and are investigating the owners of the condominium, Mendoza said.
