All lanes of 5 Freeway open after brush fire closures
All northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway were open Monday morning after a brush fire in Castaic prompted closures throughout the weekend.
Emergency equipment from fire crews blocked about a mile and a half of the far left lane Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said, but did not cause much backup in weekend traffic. The freeway fully reopened just after 3 p.m.
The fire, which burned about 500 acres, was fully contained Saturday afternoon.
