1-year-old and man shot in Watts, LAPD says

Baby was shot in this area in Watts, LAPD says.
A 1-year-old infant and a 24-year-old man were shot and wounded Monday night in Watts by an attacker on a bicycle, police said.

The shooter, believed to be 15 to 17 years old, opened fire about 7:50 p.m. near East 105th and Hickory streets, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The baby was unconscious and not breathing after being struck in the chest and was rushed to a hospital.

"It's not looking so good," Officer Karen Rayner told The Times.

Police sources said the man was cradling the baby in his arms when the gunman opened fire.

No additional details were immediately available.
