Pedestrian killed by Amtrak train in northern San Diego County

A 51-year-old man was struck and killed Friday night by an Amtrak train in Encinitas in northern San Diego County, the county medical examiner said.

Douglas Gregory Burns, who lived in a nearby trailer park, had "left his friends after consuming alcohol" and was hit by the train an hour later, at about 10:30 p.m., officials said.
