Fire engulfs Palmdale strip mall; no injuries reported

About 150 Los Angeles County firefighters fought a second-alarm fire for more than an hour Tuesday morning at a strip mall in Palmdale, officials said.

Authorities were alerted to the fire about 3:58 a.m. in the 2200 block of E. Palmdale Boulevard.

It began at a clothing store that was full of merchandise, Brian Riley of the Los Angeles County Fire Department told KTLA-TV.

No one was inside the building, he said, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters appeared to have the blaze under control by about 5:45 a.m. It was far enough from the freeway that morning commuters were not affected, officials said.
