Man found bound, gagged in liquor-store fridge had been shot in head

The body of a man found bound and gagged inside the refrigerator of a Hawaiian Gardens liquor store had been shot in the head, officials said.

Detectives were called to the 12300 block of Carson Street about 4:45 p.m. Monday after a man walked into the store and found the front door open and the lights turned off, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said. The man then called 911.

Authorities found the victim inside the store's refrigerator. His name has not been released.

Residents told KTLA-TV that the liquor store was open sporadically and that the previous owner had been killed inside 10 years ago.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the incident to call homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
