Malibu teens' summer at the beach is focus of new reality TV show

L.A. teens looking to become the next Lauren Conrad, here’s your chance.

A casting call went out on Facebook this week for “Our Summer,” a new reality show about high school kids who live in the Malibu area and plan to spend their summer by the beach.

The theme echoes that of shows such as "Jersey Shore" and "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County." But unlike the rest, creators say this series will feature “the real lives of real teens in real time.”

That means that as cameras roll the eight teens chosen to star will constantly update about their summer on social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr.

Casting director Shaggy Bajrami told Malibu Patch that the show is casting a wide net of juniors and seniors at several high schools across the Westside. Ultimately, students will be expected to come from one school.

"The whole thing depends on the most amazing personalities," Bajrami said. "We are hoping it will come from Malibu. It would be great if they all know each other."

The idea comes from the director behind "The Real World" and the executive producer of MTV’s "The Hills" and "The City."
