Mail carrier tied up, thousands of pieces of mail stolen

May 25, 2012 | 10:59 am

Three men duct-taped a Stockton mail carrier at gunpoint and robbed him of about 3,500 pieces of mail, police said.

Police said the carrier was adjusting his cargo about 1:30 p.m. Thursday when the unidentified men approached. One pushed his head down and another pointed a "large-caliber handgun" at him, according to a police report. The third man served as a lookout.

The men tried to zip-tie the victim but ended up using duct tape instead, according to police.

The men then made off with the mail, leaving the carrier in his truck.

The suspects, described as three males between 18 and 20 years old, took off in a red Ford Mustang with tinted windows and possibly a pinstripe on the side, police said.
