New charges against Long Beach officer held in child porn case

A Long Beach police officer charged with multiple counts of possessing child pornography was arrested again on suspicion of committing additional sex crimes, authorities said Wednesday evening.

Noe Yanez was initially arrested April 19 and charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.

But an ongoing investigation found that he allegedly committed other offenses, including arranging to meet a minor for lewd purposes, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Yanez, a nine-year department veteran, was being held at County Jail on $951,000 bail, police said in a statement. He has been suspended without pay since his first arrest.

In the initial case, Yanez allegedly met a teenager while on patrol and solicited explicit photographs of the youth through electronic messages, according to police. The teenager told a school resources officer about the messages and authorities were alerted.

Anyone with information is asked to call (562) 570-7878.
